Core Values

Hope Crossing Community Church values…

1.
Scripture

Hope Crossing is committed to growing in love for and knowledge of God’s Word, understanding the Bible to be the trustworthy revelation of God’s truth, which we hold as the authority and guidebook for everything we do, say and teach.

  • 1 Timothy 3:16-17  All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man or woman of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

2.   Transformation

Hope Crossing is committed to fostering the spiritual growth of its members, seeing people move toward transformation and maturity of Christ-like disciples, encouraging people to seek, learn and apply the teachings of Jesus.

  • Romans 12:1-2   Therefore, I urge you brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship.  Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

3.   Fellowship

Hope Crossing is committed to loving one another as Christ loves us; living out a biblical picture of community that includes people of all ages, backgrounds and ethnicities seeking God, loving one another, meeting each others’ needs, and practicing accountability, forgiveness and reconciliation.

  • Acts 2:42-47   They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

4.  Service

Hope Crossing is committed to cultivating hearts of service that lead people to give faithfully and generously of their talents, time, money and resources and to seek justice locally and globally for the least of these.

  • James 2:17  In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

5.  Evangelism

Hope Crossing is committed to sharing the Good News of Jesus through missional living so that people may become followers of Jesus locally and globally.

  • Matthew 9:35-38  Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."

6.   Meaningful Worship

Hope Crossing is committed to gathering communally to worship the Triune God with heart, soul, mind and strength.

  • John 4:23-24   “Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.  God is spirit and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.”
